TRAILERING
TO THE MAX
What makes Silverado such a capable tow vehicle? You can
start with the strength of its three-piece modular frame.
Then factor in a series of standard trailering features,
such as Trailer Sway Control that keeps your truck and
trailer heading in the proper direction automatically, and
a Tow/Haul mode transmission that reduces shifting to
maintain power and torque. The available Trailering
Special Equipment Package adds such useful features as
a weight-distributing trailer hitch platform with a 51 mm
(2 in.) receiver and a 7-wire harness. The available MAX
Trailering Package takes towing to the max, with a
403 horsepower Vortec
TM
V8 and a long list of heavy-duty
components that make it possible for Silverado to tow up
to 4853 kg (10,700 lb.).
1
REAR VISION CAMERA
The available rear vision camera, integrated into the rear-view mirror
or the navigation system, if so equipped, makes hooking up the easiest
part of trailering.
TOW/HAUL MODE
Standard Tow/Haul mode
2
adjusts the shift schedule
on the automatic transmission so it isn’t “hunting” for
the correct gear while towing or hauling.
STABILITRAK® WITH TRAILER SWAY CONTROL
The StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control System works in conjunction with Trailer Sway Control
2
to keep your vehicle –
and your trailer – on the path being steered by sensing a loss of lateral traction and responding by adjusting the engine
output and brakes accordingly. And when you’re trailering in hilly terrain, Hill Start Assist
2
holds the truck stationary for
about a second after the brake is released, giving you time to accelerate before the truck can roll backward.
AUTOMATIC LOCKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL
This GM segment-exclusive feature – available on 2WD and 4x4
models– directs power to the wheel that has the most traction on
slick or slippery road surfaces.
POWERTRAIN GRADE BRAKING
2
This advanced system automatically downshifts the 6-speed
automatic transmission to help slow the truck and preserve brake
pads on long, steep descents. An available trailer brake controller
is fully integrated with the anti-lock brake system (ABS).
MAX TRAILERING PACKAGE
The MAX Trailering Pack, available with the Vortec
TM
6.2L V8, gives
Extended Cab models the capability to tow up to 4853 kg (10,700 lb.)
1
(4808 kg [10,600 lb.] on Crew Cab models).
1 Maximum trailer weight ratings are calculated assuming a base vehicle, except for any option(s) necessary to achieve the rating, plus
driver. The weight of other optional equipment, passengers and cargo will reduce the maximum trailer weight your vehicle can tow.
See your Chevy dealer for additional details.
2 Not available on Silverado Hybrid.
Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LTZ 4x4, shown in
Silver Ice Metallic with available dealer-installed Chevy Accessories.
