Chevelle/El Camino/Monte Brake Hold-Off Valve
T
his is the golf ball size valve that hangs off the driver side stud
of the master cylinder. This hold off valve came on factory disc
brake cars. It is part one of the two or three part valve system.
All the cars, whether disc or drum, had the same valve on the
frame (see part #DM93020). The disc cars had this hold off
valve in addition to the frame valve. They must be used
together.

1970 Rear Chev/El Camino/Monte Brake
Hold-Off Valve
This valve for 1970 Chevelle, El Camino & Monte Carlo w/
factory disc brakes was used to hold off pressure to the rear
brakes so the front brakes would go on a split second before.
It is located at the rear of the car, mounted to the back cross
member close to where the rubber brake hose attaches
through the frame. In 1970, these cars had three valves that
made up the disc brake system. The valves include: this rear valve, a distribution b
lock
(see part #DM93020), and a round golf ball valve (see part #DM93021). In 1971, these
three pieces were combined into one valve which simplified the system.

Chevelle/El Camino/Monte Brake Distribution
Block
This block was used on both disc and drum brake cars and is
located on the frame below the master cylinder. This is not a
proportioning valve; it does not hold off pressure unless there
is a loss of pressure in either the front or rear brakes. It will
then contact the brake warning light in the dash. In 1968-69
and 70-72, this block is used on all drum cars and in 1967-70
with the round hold-off valve at the master on disc brake cars. In 1971, the disc brake
cars use a different valve and the drum brake applications continue to use this valve.
This block gives equal pressure to the front and rear brakes and is also great for 4 wheel
disc applications.

68-86 Disc/Disc Conversion Valve
This 5 port valve works great on factory cars that have been
converted to rear disc brakes and is preset for disc brakes. 2
ports on top for the lines from the master cylinder to the valve,
1 right front port, 1 left front port and 1 port for the front to
rear brake line. Fits all 71-86 GM cars. This valve is also used
on the 1964-72 GM disc brake conversions. There is no
adjustment on the valve. It is set to be 50% front brake, 50%
rear brake pressure.
