91Driving & Operating
Caution
Do not operate starter motor for more
than 10 seconds at a time.
If the engine does not start, wait 10
seconds before trying again.
This will prevent starter motor
damage.
Caution
Do not leave the key in 1 or 2 position
for extended periods while the engine
is not running.
This will discharge the battery.
Warning
Do not turn the key to 0 or 1 position
while driving.
Vehicle and brake assistance would
not operate, causing vehicle damage,
personal injury or possibly death.
STARTING THE ENGINE
Starting Engine With The
Ignition Switch
n Turn key to position 1, move the
steering
wheel slightly to release the
steering wheel lock
n Manual transmission: operate
clutch
n Do not accelerate
n Turn the key to position 3, depress-
ing the clutch pedal and footbrake
then release when engine is running
Before restarting or to switch off the
engine, turn key back to 0.
