IMMOBILISER SYSTEM
The immobiliser system provides an addi-
tional theft deterrent to the vehicle in which
it is installed and prevents it from being
started by unauthorised persons.
The valid key for a vehicle equipped with an
immobiliser system is a mechanical ignition
key with integrated transponder, which is elec-
tronically coded. The transponder is placed in-
visibly in the ignition key.
Only valid ignition keys can be used to start
the engine. Invalid keys may only open the
doors. The immobiliser system isolates the
power supply to the ignition system, fuel
pump and fuel injectors.
The engine is automatically immobilised af-
ter the key is turned to LOCK and has been
removed from the ignition switch.
See “KEYS” in the index.
If the immobiliser system does not recognise
the electronic code when you turn the igni-
tion key to START, the engine will not start.
If there is a malfunction in the immobiliser
system, the immobiliser system warning lamp
will illuminate. If this occurs, consult a work-
shop as soon as possible. We recommend your
authorised Chevrolet repairer.
